Happy Travels

I took a comedy improv class. I forced myself out of my comfort zone. Of course, I was uncomfortable (I took steps out of my comfort zone).

I have stage fright and I don’t like to perform in front of people. That isn’t to say that I don’t love the arts; I love poetry and theater and dance and music. I can appreciate performing art skills and I love to observe their displays of expression. I simply lack the courage to present myself in front of a crowd.

This comedy improv class (the beginnings of a comedy improv club) compels participants to let loose and engage in these high-energy scenes and games. These kinds of activities really exhaust me.

But, overall, I think it was a really fun experience and I’m happy for it. There were quite a few laughs. At one point, I made such a cheesy joke that Anna burst out in laughter and couldn’t stop herself. (Talk about a major ego boost! I’m funny and this proves it.)

I encourage everyone to take a step or two out of their comfort zone. Find something that piques your interest and pursue it. You may ultimately decide that you don’t wish to continue (I’m not going back to comedy improv, it’s too much pressure). And that’s okay. The point is to expand your world, just a teensy bit.

Happy travelling!
