Thank Goodness Thanksgiving is Over (for now)

SOOOOOO I’m super fucking late to the party!

But you must forgive me for being selfish and spending time away from the internet.

Selfishness must always be forgiven you see, because there isn’t any hope for a cure.

(That was me being clever and hoping at least one person out there caught on…)

What am I thankful for, now? Check below to find out.

1. I’m so glad Thanksgiving is over, it is my least favorite holiday. (Also – CHRISTMAS!!!)

2. I turned 20 the day before Thanksgiving! Yeay! And I’m also relieved that, that’s over. Once I hit November I already start thinking of myself as a year older anyway.

3. My wonderful, lovely lady-friends. Who make my life so much better pretty much every day. (BTW Ramona and Helena got me the best bomb-ass presents of my life! Thanks so much girlies!)

4. My family, whom I love. Even though they are all crazy. (And I sometimes want to kill them, but I digress.) The chillrens are cute so all is forgiven.

5. My two awesome jobs. Occasionally they suck balls – but mostly everything is good. The people I work with are awesome and I love getting shit done. #HowToAdult

6. A few amazing professors I have. Professor S, Professor T, Professor M, Professor J, and Professor W – (I like referring to them like that – they remind me of X-Men) – are amazing, and have totally shaped how I view the world and approach school in general. Thank you for being amazing.

7. A short story of mine getting accepted to the school’s literary journal! Woohooo!!! I’m so happy about that! It’s amazing that I got the opportunity to submit and I’m so thankful it was chosen!!!!

8. Poetry. Just in general, I’ve really started committing to writing poetry more often and I love being able to outlet my feelings in a way that isn’t destructive. Also, the wonderful people I’ve met through poetry have helped me to become a better writer. SO thank you ALL!

9. My upcoming study abroad trip is mind-numbingly exciting. Also frightening, but It’s awesome that I’m getting the opportunity to do it to begin with. I’m blessed to have been born in a place where I can essentially travel for “fun” rather than necessity. Mahalo, world.

10. And on that note – I’m more and more appreciative of being born. In general, I realize that I won the “jackpot” of births. I could’ve been born in a different country to different parents, maybe someplace where women are second-class citizens, or where poverty is the norm. I’m thankful for everything I have – and a little ashamed at the same time. I need to start thinking less of myself and more of others. Even if it’s just a little bit, I can make the world better for at least a few strangers every day, and I should.

That got a bit more serious than I intended.

But I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately, so it’s great I was finally able to talk about it.

Love you internet, seriously, you make me happy all the days.

And a Happy Almost Christmas!
